Our architectural studio took care of drafting the building permit for the partial demolition, reconstruction, and enlargement of a chalet in Argentière, a small village not far from Chamonix. From the start of the project, seeing the state of the existing structure, the architect advised the client to demolish all of the wooden part, and keep only the half-buried lower level, which was of reinforced concrete. This decision allowed us to reduce costs and develop a more contemporary chalet. The volume was slightly increased to create a garage and a large terrace. The appearance of the chalet conceived by FedArch Studio is more or less traditional, with wood, stone and plaster finish. The new wooden structure enabled us to create a very comfortable building in a short time.
